That is how I talked of writing a book with and for children during “Kids & Cities – the World’s Children Day webinar” organised by Placemaking Europe KIDS.
We met in June 2019 during Placemaking Week Europe in Valencia and established a Kids Working Group within Placemaking Europe Network. But we didn’t start regular meetings until the pandemic. We have become cooperators, inspirers and first of all friends.
A children’s mayor of Amsterdam; a founder of a company, which solves very adult problems of organisations and societies with the help of children and in the same teaches problem solving to children; a mother of a child with autism spectrum; participation and inclusion experts and me – on 20th November, the international Children’s Day we will all talk during Kids & Cities international webinar on the importance of listening to children and supporting their independent performance in urban space. Join me on 22.10 during Sensing Our City/ Conscious Warsaw Webinar, which will take place within the framework of Conscious Cities Festival 2020. I will speak on Urban games – children and urban space.
My friend from the UK, who spends half of his life in Scandinavia corrected me once when I described children as less experienced users of a city. Children are not less experienced – they experience differently.
