Podcast “Happy Cities”
For Skanska Residential, I had the opportunity to design the next edition of the podcast that the company publishes in TOK FM – “Happy Cities”.
When creating the program of this edition, I was guided by Andersen’s fairy tale “Five Peas”, which I sometimes quote during my speeches. When the grains were green, they thought the whole world was green, and when they turned yellow, they were convinced that the same thing happened to the world.
In the podcast, as well as in my work with the topic of children in the city, I wanted to show that the world, as well as cities, have different colors, which – enclosed in our pods – we often do not notice. That is why this edition is about accessibility, inclusiveness and well-being in urban space.
I invited people to join me whom I value and sincerely admire for their work and acting according to the principle “if you can’t find a book you would like to read, you have to write it yourself”.
This edition features:
- Agnieszka Labus, architect and urban planner, assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice and president of the LAB60+ foundation in the episode “Postal code and longevity – how to shape cities conducive to a healthy and long life?”
- Beata Patuszyńska, urban space researcher, expert on child-friendly cities, author of the City for Children blog in the episode “A child-friendly city should support their independence”
- Ewelina Jaskulska, Gender in urban space. Cities are not designed with women in mind
- Agnieszka Karwala and Jarosław Bogucki: How to design or adapt urban space to various needs? This is the recipe for a city without barriers
- Iwona Benek: Age-friendly cities, what are they? Urban space should encourage people to leave the apartment.
- Natalia Olszewska: Neuroarchitecture – designing for the well-being of city dwellers
All the talks were conducted by Wojciech Babiarczyk.
